A successful digital presence depends on staying active and interesting. If you’re not adding fresh content, you’re not giving people a reason to stick around — or come back.

Think of your social media and website as a living, breathing part of your business. If it’s gathering dust, your audience will scroll straight past and find something else to engage with. So, how do you get your content off standby and running at full power?

Map out your plan

Start with a realistic content plan. There’s no point setting yourself up to fail with a schedule that eats your entire week.

For most businesses, posting to social media three to five times a week is a good goal, while publishing a new blog every fortnight or month keeps your website fresh for search engines and visitors.

Tip: Use scheduling tools like Buffer, Hootsuite or Later to plan ahead and post consistently, even when you’re busy.

Keep your content fuelled

Creating content that actually connects with your audience takes time. It’s easy to fire off a quick post, but content that works — a scroll-stopping post, a well-designed graphic, or a useful blog — needs ideas, good visuals and time to write.

Block out time each week or month to plan, create and schedule content. Treat it like an appointment you can’t cancel. Good content is an investment in your brand’s visibility.

Keep them moving towards your website

Your social media shouldn’t just exist for the sake of it — it should encourage your audience to visit your website, buy a product, sign up for your emails or contact you.

Keep your website updated with news, case studies, fresh products, or useful resources. If you only have a handful of blogs or updates, batch-create a few in advance and drip-feed them out. A steady flow of new content keeps your website active for SEO and gives your social media posts something valuable to point people towards.

Listen, learn, refine

Engagement is more than just posting and disappearing. Pay attention to what people comment on, share or like — and what falls flat.

Look at your insights each month:
✅ Which posts got the most clicks?
✅ What was saved or shared?
✅ What drove traffic to your website?

Use that info to shape what you do more (or less) of next time.

Bringing your social media and website to life doesn’t have to be complicated — but it does take a plan and a bit of time. If you don’t have either, drop me a line.
